To run the core product (matching, messaging, moderation), to enforce the 18+ requirement, to review reports and keep the community safe, and to operate the Premium subscription (via Stripe).
Uploaded photos are held in a private, non-public queue until a human reviewer approves them. Once approved, other members only ever see a blurred version of your photo until you personally choose to reveal it to a specific match — the original, unblurred file is never sent to another member's browser before that.
Other members see only what you choose to put in your public profile (never your email, DOB, or exact activity history). Ky Ramzy, as the operator, can view reported content, pending profile reviews, and account records for moderation and support purposes.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your messages, photos, or profile data with advertisers. Payment processing is handled by Stripe directly — Ember does not store your card number.
If you'd like your account and associated data (profile, photos, messages) deleted, email the address on the Safety page and we'll remove it, typically within a few days — except where we need to retain minimal records (e.g. that an account was banned, and why) to keep repeat offenders off the platform.
If you're a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA to know what personal information we hold about you, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale (we don't sell data, so there's nothing to opt out of). Contact us via the Safety page to exercise these rights.
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Access to the admin review tools is restricted to the operator. As with any online service, no system is 100% secure — please use a unique password for your Ember account.
Questions about this policy or your data: reach out via the email listed on the Safety page.
